Humans of Bhambayi
Meet the legacy builder, Mrs Mazibuko. Principal at Kasturba Ghandi Primary School, a haven of learning, care, and excellence in Bhambayi. We work closely with this staff team, as many of our shining stars are employed there. When visiting this school, we are always impressed with the immaculate grounds, cheerful flower beds, joy, and helpfulness from staff and children alike.
Mrs Mazibuko loves to see children growing in knowledge and discovering their areas of interest. She calls the learners, “her kids, innocent souls, and her bread and butter!”
She dreams that education will help them escape the bonds of material poverty and hopelessness, and works tirelessly with her team to provide education that will empower the children to become independent and take leadership roles within the community.
Despite the significant challenges faced daily in this role, she says, “It is an immensely rewarding career. It gives you an opportunity to shape the next generation, develop them holistically and instil values.”
“And, you learn and you teach at the same time.”
What an important revelation from an educator.
Every day is different, with some new difficulties and some prevailing ones.
Mrs Mazibuko and her team wish they had more classrooms, as overcrowding is a real challenge. When asked what she wishes she could see change, it’s an easy answer for her: “to see more love, support and commitment from parents and caregivers towards their children, and that they would be working to instil important and relevant values.”
She shares the verse that keeps her going…
Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3: 13-14
Thank you, Mrs Mazibuko, for your commitment to our shared future.
We appreciate the meaningful legacy you are building.
